Foster Her Crown is a beauty education and workforce development nonprofit in Oakland, born from lived experience in foster care, housing instability, and trauma, using hair braiding to restore confidence and opportunity.
Beauty As Healing Work
We teach braiding as culture, craft, and income, creating safe, trauma-informed spaces where youth, survivors, and gender-expansive people rebuild identity, practice new skills, and imagine futures that reach beyond survival.
Building A Movement Together
Through programs, mentorship, and partnerships, we guide participants between surviving and succeeding, while inviting community members, funders, and allies to stand alongside this growing movement for restoration and economic empowerment.
Euniqua Wade
Foster Her Crown is led by our founder, Euniqua Wade, a Black woman whose life has traveled between foster care, housing instability, and the discovery of hair braiding at age twelve. She learned early that her hands could create more than styles, they could create stability, dignity, and income. Euniqua has walked beside foster youth, survivors, and system-impacted communities for years, shaping programs that reflect real barriers and real possibilities. Her leadership is trauma-informed and community-rooted, grounded in advocacy, mentorship, and beauty education.
