Community Support & Advocacy

Community Support & Advocacy

Community Support & Advocacy grew from years of seeing braiders work in the margins while their craft held families together. We knew the story needed to change-not just for individual artists, but for entire communities who rely on this work for culture, identity, and income.

Through this initiative, we host conversations, trainings, and community events that uplift braiding as a respected cultural practice and workforce pathway. We partner with organizations, policymakers, and beauty professionals to push for fair policies, safer working conditions, and greater recognition of braiders' skills.

We also create spaces where youth, survivors, immigrants, and long-time community members can share how braiding has impacted their lives-from paying tuition to reclaiming their hair after trauma. These stories guide our advocacy. Community Support & Advocacy is our way of saying that the braid is not small; it is a thread that ties culture, economic empowerment, and healing together for generations.
